About Me

So who am I? Well I’m a 40 -ish year old anime fan from Hull, who likes writing comic strips based on the daft gags I’ve been coming out with for years...

Likes:

History:

Currently I’m into Chinese and Japanese history - I’ve just forked out for translations of ”Three Kingdoms”, ”Journey to the West” and “Outlaws of the Marshes”. My eyes hurt and the people in the bookshop think I’m strange.

Music:

Rammstein (the video to Sonne still fascinates me...)

Sisters of Mercy (“w’re dressed in black and we’ve wobbly voices...”)

Yoko Kanno (mad Japanese woman, love Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop soundtracks)

Video Games:

This month I ‘ave mostly been playing :

Dynasty Warriors 5 (starring the phenomenally camp Zhang He and the dwarf bubba Cao Ren),

Gears of War (Nice chunky guns and armour),

Star Wars KOTOR (Hmmh, good it is , impressed I am...),

Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volley Ball (the game you play with one hand...)

The Gregory Horror Show (phenomenally underrated, wonderful game)

Portals (I’m looking forward to the bit where I get cake...)

Bioshock (superb setting and storyline)

Guitar Hero 3 (really didn’t think I’d like this...)

Books

“Wiffle Lever to Full” by Bob Fischer. A brilliant account of his experiences at a selection of sci-fi conventions. He really ought to try an anime con...

Dislikes:

My ex, who in a recent magazine article said dressing up as a hobbit gave her a reason for living. And people wonder why I’m single...

People I’d like to meet:

Zhuge Liang (3rd century military genius),

Guan Yu (Paragon of warrior virtue with a big beard),

Bruce Lee (da man!),

William Adams (the English Samurai),

Sun Tzu (the Art of War) ,

Fred Dibnah (the ultimate steam powered dude),

Johnny Ball (the man who makes learning more fun than a bag of balloons and three coloured pencils),

Adam Hart Davies (for wearing outlandish colour combinations – and being educational at the same time),

Carl Sagan (for being clever AND sounding like Kermit the frog),

Aryeh Nusbacher (one of the main reasons for watching ”Time Commanders”)
